Instagram begins testing new ‘reposts’ feature; Users will allow to share others’ post on their feeds | Technology News

New Delhi: Instagram is working on a new feature that allows users to share other people’s posts on their feed without taking a screenshot and then reposting it or going to another source, The Verge reported. Besides, Instagram is tweaking the sharing options. Now it’s easy to share the post on Snapchat, Messenger or WhatsApp before sharing directly to the DM, which is similar to TikTok’s approach.

It’s worth noting that Instagram recently retracted a test aimed at turning the app toward an AI-powered feed of full-screen photos and videos after a backlash, part of its seemingly slow debut on TikTok, according to The Verge.

TechCrunch stated that this “repost” feature was spotted on Wednesday by Matt Navarra, the social media consultant who posted the photos in a Twitter thread. Sharing someone else’s post for your followers to see is not entirely new to Instagram users. Users were able to share public posts to their followers but only on Instagram Story or through direct messages.

This tool will be comparable to the tweets on Twitter or the popular retweets on Facebook and Tumblr that are also being tried on TikTok.
